Geikie, Sir Archibald (1835–1924), a British geologist who was an expert on glacial and volcanic geology. He was director general of the Geological Survey of Scotland, 1867–81, and of the United Kingdom, 1881–1901. Geikie was born in Edinburgh, Scotland. He attended the University of Edinburgh and taught there, 1871–81. He was knighted in 1891.

Geikie wrote Textbook of Geology (1882); The Founders of Geology (1897); and A Long Life's Work (1924), his autobiography.
