Because Eris, the Greek goddess of discord, was fond of causing trouble, she was chosen as the namesake for a new "dwarf planet" discovered in our solar system in 2005. The designation caused dissention in the scientific community, resulting in the reclassification of Pluto as a dwarf planet.
