Coca, or Cuca, a shrub native to the mountainous regions of Peru and Bolivia and the jungles of Brazil. Cocaine and other alkaloids are extracted from its leaves. The plant is cultivated in South America and in Sri Lanka, Indonesia, and India. The shrub grows from six to eight feet (1.8 to 2.4m) tall.
The coca shrub is Erythroxylon coca of the family Erythroxylaceae.
