Devil's Paintbrush, or Orange Hawkweed, a rugged perennial weed of the composite family. It is native to Europe and is also common in North America. Devil's paintbrush grows to a height of 20 inches (50 cm). Its hair-covered, leafless stem is topped by small, brilliant orange-red flowers. The toothed leaves, five inches (13 cm) long and one inch (2.5 cm) wide, are arranged in tufts at the base of the stem.
