Jerusalem Thorn, or Horsebean, a tropical American shrub or tree. The tree grows from 10 to 30 feet (3 to 9 m) in height. It bears long spines, drooping compound leaves, and fragrant yellow flowers. The fruit is a leathery, twisted pod about five inches (13 cm) long. Jerusalem thorn is often grown as a hedge in California and the southeastern United States. Its foliage is sometimes eaten by livestock.
The Jerusalem thorn is Parkinsonia aculeata of the pea family, Leguminosae.
