Bottle tree

Bottle Tree, an Australian tree named for its swollen, bottle-shaped trunk, which stores water. There are 12 species, ranging in height from 20 to 100 feet (6 to 30 m). Bottle trees bear lobed leaves and clusters of pink, red, yellow, or white flowers. The desert kurrajong is a species of bottle tree grown as an ornamental in southern California.

Bottle trees belong to the family Sterculiaceae. The desert kurrajong is Brachychiton gregorii. Its scientific name is Brachychiton rupestris.
