Sensitive Plant, a perennial plant native to Brazil. It is a hairy plant with leaves made up of many individual oval leaflets. Its tiny, lavender flowers are clustered together in ball-shaped flower heads. The plant grows to about 15 inches (38 cm) high.

The sensitive plant is grown mostly as a curiosity. When touched, its leaflets fold together and the leafstalks droop. This response will often move from the area touched to other parts of the plant. A sudden change in temperature will bring about a similar reaction. The plant returns to normal within about 10 to 20 minutes.

The sensitive plant is Mimosa pudica of the pea family, Leguminosae.
